The lavish red carpet is a place to have fun with fashion. For us watching at home or on our laptops, there is an important story to be told by each dress. It was clear that the night would be about full-length gowns that were slightly fitted and revealing in their bodycon silhouettes. The Oscars demand classic looks, but we saw some new takes on the standard silhouette this year!
We were presented with bold dresses in bright red, a power move. Those in classic soft pink looked sharp and clean, often in architectural shapes. The Time’s Up movement was prevalent on the red carpet, and for this reason this year’s Oscars best-dressed was not just about the clothing, but rather, focused on the women who represented the power of this movement in gowns that did their part for the cause.
