From voting rights to equal employment, we’ve come a long way as women, but there is still a long way to go! And today we are celebrating International Women’s Day to remind us how far we’ve come, to re-instill the importance of gender equality and to promote this in our local and global community.

According to its official website, International Women’s Day is a global date celebrating the “social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women” and this couldn’t be more true. Long story short, we get to celebrate how awesome we all are and we should all be truly proud of where we are today!

World-renowned political activist and journalist Gloria Steinem once said, “the story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights”. And this year, the 2017 Women’s March drew one of the largest crowds it has seen to date with over 500, 000 people in the USA and over 5 million across the globe. The significant attitude change is something we all should be proud of.
